When a thunderstorm suddenly pours down, Sara and James are convinced they see the last railroad train puffing along the tracks in the rain.
The The Last Train – A Children’s Book is a sweet, lyrical tale of railroads and imagination. The story is enhanced by beautiful, soft-focused illustrations make by the author Kim Lewis. Kim Lewis grew up in a sleepy suburb of the city of Montreal in Canada. She received a Fine Arts degree in Montreal Canada. Then she went to England to do her postgraduate work in printmaking at Hornsey College of Art. She loved England. She married and moved to a farm with her husband near Northumberland. Encouraged by an illustrator friend, Kim decided to tell the story of the shepherding sheep for her son James, who was three at the time. This began a series of farm books for Walker Books. And Kim has been making picture books about her beloved countryside ever since.
